Ok. I am a firm believer that I have a freeway fairy. The first time was when the CPU on my car quit working on the 101 near SB and I managed to pull the car over in heavy traffic and make my way home via train. The car was toast as when the CPU is blown, nothing works. The second time was tonight while coming home on the 101 in Ventura. My car started to shimmy and I smelled tire burning. The car then started to drive really badly. I managed to get off the 101 and pull the car to a little spot. I went out to look at the tire and it was shredded. I was not hurt and called the wife and came home. Both of these could have turned out much worse, but did not. So here is a public thank you to my freeway fairy for keeping me safe.
