Ok, I was challenged to do the ALS ice bucket challenge by Annefleur De Graaf-van Heuvelen and Esmeralda Blok (more than 24 hours ago by the way). As the days went by I kept wondering and asking myself where and how this ALS ice bucket challenge started. And here it is! The hard painful reality. Personally I do not know anyone how has been diagnosed with this disease; however I know someone close that has lost a family member of this illness two years ago! Before that I never heard of this disease and frankly I never really understood the impact until now seeing some personal videos of victims taken down by this awful disease. The main goal of this whole challenge is to mainly raise awareness and raise money for research. Now I am all for good laughs and fun, but do all the people taking un the challenge really, really understand what they are doing? I want to believe they do, at least I hope they do! However there are lots and I do mean lots of hereditary diseases out there that some of us never ever heard about........sickle cell disease, thalassemia (I mention these because I know of it from direct loved ones)! Therefore I challenge my family and friends to find a research that is working on finding a cure for a unknown hereditary disease and donate! I will also donate to the ALS research (as this was the challenge about to begin with....) and post a proof of my donation. Now I have to challenge 3 people......I challenge Terry Balvers, Tumaini Leito and December Lascaris Good luck!
