Ok, Republican friends. Please fact check before your next message and/or post to my page. While I personally agree that Rosemary Lehmberg should have stepped down, that is up to the voters of Travis County who put her in office- not Rick perry. While I do not believe the indictment will do more than cost the taxpayers millions, Perry certainly deserves a reprimand at the very least. He attempted to pressure Lehmberg into resigning by threatening to cut support from The Public integrity Unit. Where I grew up, this would have been called bullying; legally the term is coercion. Several of you have maintained no harm, no foul. You are wrong on that count as well. The impact of the Governor’s funding veto meant the unit saw staff cut by a third from 34 to 24, it sent back insurance tax fraud cases except already indicted cases and it no longer heard statewide cases which numbered well over 100 in previous years. I respect a difference of opinion, but I believe empirical data is necessary to support a hypothesis- not just comments made by a talking head on FOX news.
