Ok Sports Friends....a little survey.... Which was the greatest moment in sports history of the last 50 years: 1) Cal Ripken Jr.s ending of his consecutive record streak at 2131 and then taking a Victory Lap afterwards; 2) Dale Earnhardts congratulations lap from every other team after winning his only Daytona 500 in 1998; 3) Mark McGuire hitting homerun # 62 to break Roger Maris single season Home Run Record ; 4) Michael Jordan’s game winning shot against the Utah Jazz in 1998 resulting in a storybook ending that helped the Chicago Bulls win their 6th and final championship of the Jordan Era in Chicago. 5) The Immaculate Reception where with the Steelers trailing in the last 30 seconds of a 1972 NFL Divisional Playoff Game, Pittsburgh quarterback Terry Bradshaw threw a pass to John Fuqua, who was immediately hit and lost possession of the ball. As the ball fell towards the ground, Steelers fullback Franco Harris scooped it up and ran for a game-winning touchdown. 6) Kirk Gibsons 1988 World Series home run in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series, on October 15, 1988, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Gibson, pinch hitting for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the bottom of the ninth inning, with injuries to both legs, hit a two-run walk-off home run off the Oakland Athletics Dennis Eckersley that won Game 1 for the Dodgers by a score of 5–4. 7) Joe Carter hit a three-run walk-off home run off Phillies pitcher Mitch Williams (against whom he was 0–4 career) to win the 1993 World Series, only the second time a Series has ended with a home run. 8) Muhammad Ali regains the World Heavyweight Boxing Championship from George Foreman on October 30, 1974 in the fight known as the Rumble in the Jungle, Ali won by knockout, putting Foreman down just before the end of the eighth round. It has been called arguably the greatest sporting event of the 20th century. 9) The Miracle on Ice , a medal-round mens ice hockey game during the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid, New York, on Friday, February 22. The United States national team, made up of amateur and collegiate players and led by coach Herb Brooks, defeated the Soviet Union national team, which had won the gold medal in six of the seven previous Olympic games.Team USA went on to win the gold medal by winning its last match over Finland. 10) The final play of Super Bowl XXXIV (also known as The Tackle) which occurred January 30, 2000, in the NFL Championship Game between the St. Louis Rams and the Tennessee Titans.Rams linebacker Mike Jones tackled Titans wide receiver Kevin Dyson at the one-yard line, preserving the Rams 23–16 victory.
