Ok... Today was one of the most inspiring and motivating days Ive ever had in my public service career which also reminds me of why I do what we do. Hanging out with Randolph Mantooth (Johnny Gage) all day while visiting fire stations around North King County made me reflect on my 25 years in the Fire Service and 10 years Coast Guard. After all these years, I have to say these values unknowingly were greatly influenced by that TV show Emergency. Randy Mantooths understanding of Emergency Medical Services politics, culture, history, medic unit staffing and deployment, research, equipment, protocols, firefighter safety, and even the funding models was at the expert level. He is a true humanitarian and an advocate for fire-based EMS serving the public regardless of socio-economic or geo-political differences. He has a lot to share for the future of EMS in this nation.
