Ok, everyone we have Irv again, inspiring us all to move!!! First , I want you all to know that Irv was thrilled to hear all your responses and wanted to say thank-you all so very much! Today, Irv is using his cane as his training tool. I like to call this Cane Train If your lucky enough to have a cane you can use yours, otherwise a short stick, a dowel, broom or just your arms will do. You can do these exercises/ movements sitting in a chair or standing up. For irvs warm-up, hes doing: Overhead reach Torso twisting Forward bend/ overhead reach. Overhead reach, reaching over head opens up your lungs allowing you to take in more oxygen. Which is important to warming up the body. Inhale as you reach up, exhale as your arm go down. Torso twisting, twisting slowly will help loosen up your shoulders, upper back and obliques. Inhale as you twist, exhale when returning to center. Forward bend/overhead reach, bending forward will help stretch out your lower back, while reaching up will help lengthen your spine. Inhale as you reach Exhale as you bend. Contract your stomach as you slowly lengthen up. These are very simple movements but,for those in their 90s, or for someone who has never exercised, or even those who want to add a few more movements into their morning routine, these are perfect! Irvs performs 10 repetitions of each exercise-rest- than repeats for a second round. follow is lead! My tip, Always match your breathing with your movement Enjoy and share the inspiration!
