Ok facebook people, I need some help. As much as it breaks my heart, I have decided it best to find a new home for my dog, Rudy. She is absolutely the most wonderful dog, however, she needs (and deserves) more than I am able to give her. Rudy is about a year and a half old and is a mix breed of boxer and pit bull and possibly something else. She originally came from the animal shelter and I refuse to let her go back there. So I am going to be extremely picky about to whom and where she goes from here. Rudy is an absolute sweetheart. She is fully house trained and very used to being an inside dog. She is full of love and affection and has become accustomed to lying on the couch and sleeping on the bed. However, the issue is that with my schedule, she spends way too much time inside and does not get the activity/exercise time that she really needs as I don’t have a yard to accommodate that. To be honest, Rudy is a bit of a special needs dog currently, but can progress through that with the proper owner and environment. She has what is known as hyperkinesis, which in human kids is known as ADHD. Her issues stem from a lack of socialization. Because of my demanding schedule, I have not been able to properly get her out to the dog park where she can socialize and play with other dogs and people. This is a necessity for her. Because of this, she finds it necessary to constantly be at my feet when I am home, and can sometimes have hyperactive spurts. Unfortunately, a couple of those occasions led to the destruction of some furniture items when I wasn’t home. Again, this can be remedied simply by giving her the appropriate amount of active time outside of the house and especially in a social environment like a dog park. Unfortunately, my schedule just doesn’t allow for that. Also, when I have been able to take her to the park or when someone else comes around, she can be a bit domineering. Please do not confuse this with aggression. Because she has had such limited amount of social time, when she does get it she feels it necessary to demand interaction. Again, the remedy for this is simply someone with the time, patience and determination to work with her in a social environment, the best being a dog park. In all honesty, the perfect candidate might be someone who already has another young, playful inside/outside dog and a yard to accommodate. So I guess what I’m looking for is either the perfect new home for her, or help finding the right facility/agency that can help with this. Again, an animal shelter is completely out of the question. Please feel free to message me or text/call me if you have my number for more detailed info. Thank you!!!
