Ok folks, I have a problem. Some of you know Ive been trying to get a website built for multiple designers to sell their designs. The biggest roadblock I keep running into is finding a web site designer who can do it. That is not to say those thus far werent capable. One was untrustworthy, one had to go due to health issues and the current one wrote to me yesterday. Out of respect I wont say his or her name. Only the message I received: Mr Charles - it is not looking good at all from this end - if you can find anyone else at all you may want to move forward with them - at this time in my life I simply don;t have the time, energy or where with all to do your site justice, work part time and try to keep my life in some kind of less than chaotic order - I am deeply saddened that I told you I would do something that I cannot do, please forgive me my friend. Heres the lay out along with the goods and bads of you potentially being the web person. 1- Im dead broke living on a fixed income so I cannot pay you (ahead of time) to build the site unless you take payments. 2- Because of that, I will offer you 20-25% of monthly profits. The designers contributing will be getting 50% profit. 3- I will need to see examples of your website building abilities. 4- Currently there are just under 1,000 patterns, thumbnails to be put onto the site. Obviously thats a lot of work so I need someone who can put in that kind of time in a somewhat timely manner. After site launch it would just be updating as needed. 5- The space used is owned by my brother Cliff Dearing and he is 100% trustworthy. I say that because he (and our family bond) are NOT the kind to throw a tantrum over something and suddenly block access to the site. He allows you and me in and then stays completely out of it. You and I will be the ONLY ones with 100% access to the inner workings of the site. I trust my brother more than anyone on Earth and can guarantee no petty interferences. 6- I have NO tech/website building know-how whatsoever is why I am seeking a web person. I dont want an overly snazzy site. I would like it to be user friendly but no so much a cookie cutter cut and paste site either. See woodenteddybear and scrolleronline for the simplicity desired. You and I would essentially be partners in this site/business. I offer that because of my fixed income. 7- You and I would need to keep 100% communication and teamwork. 8- The getting-site-ready part is the most work but that work load will slow down once launched due to not as many patterns added at a time. 9- We would need some kind of assurance (legally) that neither of us will suddenly block access to each other based on petty disagreements, etc. 10- The designers getting 50% profit in non-negotiable. I want that high percentage to be incentive for them to contribute and stay on board. I apologize for the length of this post but I wanted to be thorough and try to outline in detail what is needed.
