Ok, heres another one for a TBT... Crossbows & Catapults. I was bought this game for Christmas and Im guessing it was in the same year it was released, which was 1983. Me and my dad would spend hours playing this together until the rubber bands broke, then those were replaced until those had to be replaced by over use. It was a game of physical skill, the two sides, originally Vikings and Barbarians, build fortifications from plastic bricks then the opposing players attempt to destroy each others castle with rubber-band powered crossbows and catapults firing plastic disks. The two opposing sides fortifications had to be built opposite each other at a set distance, then turns were taken at firing a disc at the enemy players camp. The different ways I remember on winning were, knocking over all the enemy plastic warrior pieces, toppling the castle tower on the main square board that covered the treasure icon (A golden sword for the Barbarians and a Gold Goblet for the Vikings), or landing a disc on top of the treasure icon (these were what we played anyway :p) The Square towers which had a catapult on top had a pressure sensitive doorway, that when hit it would cause any models placed on top of the tower to be sent hurtling over the walls to their doom! There were a few add ons for the game, I remember having the Trojan Horse and battering ram game sets, these had additional rules on how they were played. There were also the ships box set, Dragon, Cyclops and Minotaur sets but these I never had. The game had many incarnations since its release, in the Tomy version, the two armies are called the Impalers of the Clannic Shelf and the Doomlords of Gulch. The Impalers inhabit the Clannic Shelf, a large floating rock island 500 metres above the surface of Otherworld. The shelf has a gravitational affect on the Doomlords, causing them to have a shorter, squatter frame than the Impalers. In the most recent version launched in 2007, which was known as Battlezone, the two sides were Orcs and Knights. Who else had this game and what stories to tell regarding elastic bands snapping on fingers or discs getting lost under furniture? :p
