Ok, so I got blasted by some people on FB when I said that Batman was Jesus (in the Dark Knight Rises)...well, one of the Nolan brothers is the producer for Man of Steel and this time Warner Brothers is explicitly claiming there are Christian motifs. I saw the movie yesterday, and it was clear as day to me, although many people laughed again. I think the popularity of superhero movies reflects the fact that people have an innate sense that, on some level, humanity needs saving. It is funny to me that people that reject Jesus like some of the movies that reveal themes borrowed from His story. I guess that sometimes love has to close its eyes to see clearly.
