Ok, so Ive finally gotten to sit down at my computer and say something about Saturday. My apologies for the delay...not that anyone was breathlessly waiting...{laughs}...but some of you did have questions and tagged me in a multitude of thank yous and whatnot, so I didnt want to write something until I had time to give it my full attention. First let me just say THANK YOU to everyone who made Saturday such a smashing success. Mr. Wark and Robin were absolutely sincerely surprised, which with over 600 people invited to our event, and seemingly hundreds of us buzzing about it for the past two weeks, I have no idea how DELPHOS kept it a secret, I mean, arent small towns full of the biggest mouths!?!? Seriously, Im so grateful that nobody let the secret get out, and I think the roars of cheering we did when we saw Mr. Wark and Robins faces said it all. I can see them now...shocked, and awed, and overwhelmed with pride. The very pride they instilled in us, was pouring out of us and flowing right back to them. I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am to be a Delphos girl in this moment and in this time. To do what we did in the time we did it was truly amazing. I am a firm believer in the idea that what you put out into the world DOES make a difference, if not in the lives of the masses, then just do something to impact the lives of one, or two....and YOU GUYS sure helped me make that happen. Impact-ually speaking, me marching down there in my flip flops banging on a drum from the dollar general and waving an mini American flag wouldnt have exactly sent the message to the Warks I was hoping and striving for! {winks} Robin texted me today and told me thanks and said that we gave them a day that they will remember the rest of their lives. I think Mr. Wark and Robin taught and gave us so many important things, but none more important than LOVE, RESPECT and PRIDE. They were examples of greatness...in the form of someone willing to not just BE great, but to TEACH others how to be great. Such a selfless thing in a selfish world. I truly believe that what we put out into the world can change the world, can change lives, so if you cant change the EVEYONEs, just start by doing something good for some ONE. It all goes for the greater good, and I think thats what we accomplished here. We, us, you and I, we PUT something good back out into the world. All that love, and pride, and respect that they instilled in us, was pouring right out of us and right back to them. A tradition of excellence is what they represented, and I think we carried on that tradition yesterday. WE embodied their lifes work, and they saw it, in its purest, simplest, sincerest form. They saw what they accomplished here in their time in Delphos...and they saw it in US. And we didnt just show them, all those young eyes, and neighbors, and passing cars, all SAW with their very own eyes what gratitude looks like first hand. What pride actually looks like....and SOUNDS like in the form of ewengowa Got that wildcat power....sure we sounded like dying cats a little, but damnit, were not spring chicks anymore! You guys keep telling me how PROUD you all of me, and HOW proud I should be of myself, but honestly, I dont feel proud of ME, but I DO feel PROUD to be a part of all of you, proud to have been a part of the Warks, of the band and to have been part of something that gives back, something good, that warms the hearts of others. There are so many people to thank, and that I cannot thank enough for everything they did and contributed to making the day the best it could be: Lou Best, Megan Heller Ryan, Melissa Kohorst Knepper, Tami Osburn Herron, Stacy Klint, Stacy Prine Gary Dilworth, Sarah Prine, Jerimy Siefker, Samantha Klint and the Jefferson Cheerleaders, Maranda Arlington Debbe, Kyle Fittro, Lee Wark, Jacquie Rozelle-Kill...and to each and every one of you who made the day what it was...PURELY SPECTACULAR. Ill never forget yesterday, and for that, I thank you! We got the band back together...and there was nothing sweeter than the sentiment in the air, that wafted down State street, onto Westbrook, and across the faces of every single person who stood in that place in time with us.
