Okay - something I just read about baptism..... just try to imagine this....... To help new believers appreciate just how radical baptism is - how it calls us to turn away from the kind of darkness that so much of the world lives by, and instead to live out our lives led by God’s light - a group of Christians in New Zealand baptize in a rather unusual way. What they do is they take those who are to be baptized up onto a bridge and tie a really long bungee cord around their ankles. And then the new believer jumps off the bridge and plunges a couple hundred feet down into a river, where they get immersed from about their head to their waist, and then they get pulled back up. Not to discuss the theology behind this only trying to imagine what being baptized in this manner would feel like...... YIKES!!
