Okay.. Catching Fire... Its very good. Better than the first. It really goes without saying, but Jennifer Lawrence was incredible at portraying Katnisss PTSD and her inability to trust anyone in the games. I loved the addition of Philip Seymour Hoffman to the cast as Plutarch Heavensbee, and I really liked Sam Claflin and Jena Malone as Finnick Odair and Johanna Mason. Donald Sutherland was also clearly relishing the opportunity to portray President Snow as being completely villainous. The costume and production design were really great this time around, and the visual effects were much better. Francis Lawrence handled the directing duties for this second chapter, and I actually think he brought more style than Gary Ross. The final shot, a close up on Katnisss face as she realizes what has happened to Peeta, the others, and the approaching revolution, was a great way to fade to black, and Lawrences performance of that moment was perfection. The last book, Mockingjay, is a hot ass mess, so Im hoping they fix some things up with the film versions. Theres definitely room for improvement.
