Okay FB friends, I would appreciate any input or answers to this question...here is the situation: we had to replace all of our social security cards due to the fire. We went to the local office and the wait was over two hours, so the kind security guard gave us forms to apply for replacement cards by mail. We read the directions Complete the forms and return by mail with your drivers license. We filled out the forms, mailed them in with copies of our licenses and within a week received a letter back for each stating that the requests were denied due to the fact that we sent COPIES instead of our ACTUAL drivers licenses. We called them and asked them about it, thinking surely this was a mistake. Nope. They are asking folks to mail in their actual drivers license. I said, So, we are all supposed to drive illegally while we wait on this process?! They said they could not comment on that. Is this for real?!! This is a government office asking people to mail in their actual licenses! Where is the legality in this?
