Okay, I am back from Mount Shasta and have 1878 emails waiting for me and several hundred Facebook comments. I cannot possibly reply to them all and still keep my sanity - so in a general response to all I will post a few words here on my page. Mount Shasta had no snow for the first time in anyones memory - all you could see were the few ice glaciers still up there. The retreat had over 200 people - and we basically took over the small town of McCloud. The towns people could not have been any more accommodating to the needs of our group. Wonderful place to visit. I had a black bear encounter on the back roads just 3 miles or so from the center of the town. I tried to take video of it from the car - as it was just in front of us. I had about 45% of my battery life left on my iPhone when I started to shoot the video - after about 20 seconds I decided to jump out of the car and get up close and personal with this small 300 pound bear. Just as I had that thought and was grabbing the door lever to open the car door - my phone battery went totally dead on me. It stopped recording and the screen went totally dark. So, I stopped trying to get out of the car - since there was no longer any purpose to be chasing down the bear. It dawned on me sometime later on that maybe that was never such a great idea - and that maybe the battery unexpectedly going dead, actually might have saved me from some major trouble - like having a bear attack me! I mean - I had 45% battery life left and it only shot 20 seconds worth of video. Maybe the universe really does take care of fools and stupid people! LOL I went up on Shasta that first night there with some friends to around the 9,000 foot level to see the sunset - what a wonder it was. I will post a few pictures on my page for now. I wish all of you could have been there it was truly a magical place - even had a large owl fly over our car yesterday morning as we were driving out of the area on our way home. The first photo is of me at sunset on Mount Shasta - the second photo is of one of a woman from Tibet who came to the retreat - The next photo shows me standing in circles of rocks around 9,000 feet up on Shasta - the water fall was just a few miles from the hotel and near where I saw the bear in the morning. More to follow.
