Okay, I can now tell you something about what I am working on. For the last thirteen years I have been putting off a decision I have wanted to make, but there have been issues in the past. I am moving through the application process for the Sheriffs Departments for Pickaway, Delaware and Franklin Counties, Columbus Division of Police and the State of Ohio for Trooper and Dispatcher (thanks to my brother-in-law, Brett Hutchinson for advocating for me and encouraging me to enter the State of Ohio process). The reason I could not do it earlier is when I was first considering the option, my first wife, Sandy was terminal, and I would likely have been eliminated on the grounds of credit-worthiness (medical bills really had taxed us to the limit, and adversely impacted us). Jackie and I have prayerfully discussed this and believe the time is now right to pursue this career move. It will take about a year to clear the process and receive an offer for the academy. I must move now, if I am to have about 20 years to build up a retirement for my family. The reason I am letting you know is that I have cleared the abbreviated background check for the CPD and am scheduled to test for the counties on Thursday at 4pm. I tested in 2003 for the Franklin County Sheriffs Department and failed by half a point. I plead for your prayers. If I actually succeed at this, this will definitely be the hand of God. The application process is grueling, and the academy for a young 20 year old pup is grueling, as well. It will likely be torture for a 44 year old like me! Cadets wash out regularly and sometimes, immediately the first day or week. I CANNOT BE THAT CASUALTY IN ANY PHASE!! Please pray. I have plenty of doubt that I can do this, but with a lot of hard work (*cough* - *cough* -- feeling winded just thinking about it) and help from you in the form of prayers and intercession and strength of the Lord God, I CAN DO IT!
