Okay... I dont usually post or comment on political issues. But I couldnt let this pass. Obamacare... I was in the hospital from 9/25 thru 9/28. For those few days, my insurance company was billed $32,329.07. All I can say is I thank God I have insurance because all Im responsible for is $1500. Now, because I worked in billing/coding and collections for a number of years, I know the hospital will not receive $32,329.07 due to the contract agreement with the insurance company. The hospital will probably received about $18-23K. But, if I didnt have health insurance, I would be responsible for the whole amount of $32,329.07. Which leads me to say this... For those of you who dont have health insurance and are opposed to Obamacare, you really need to stop and think and be thankful that there is a law in place that requires you to have health insurance so that 1. You can afford to live a longer and healthier life by going to the doctor and getting regular check-ups... 2. You will be able to sleep at night night without having the voice of an outrageous medical bill talking to you and keeping you awake... 3. Hello... the more people that get insured the more likely insurance premiums will go down... why? Because Hospitals, doctors offices and clinics wont have to continually increase their rates in order to recoup the money they spend on providing free services to people who dont have any health insurance. There used to be a time when aspirin was given freely in the hospital, now... $2.08. Im done.
