Okay ... Now that Ive proven to my own satisfaction that I can construct a simple set of custom shelves Im struggling to decide which to build next: a 13-foot wide floor to ceiling storage cabinet/bookcase in my office or a similar-sized shelving system in my living room for TV, stereo component system, and storage for DVDs and Xbox games. Both projects will relieve considerable clutter and eliminate several makeshift cabinets that are not particularly decorative. The clutter in my office is not visible to visitors, while the clutter in my living room is more unsightly to guests. But I make more personal use of my office than I do my living room. Also, the office cabinet/shelves are - with the exception of building cabinet doors from scratch - a simpler project than the living room shelving system. So Im currently leaning that direction. Any thoughts or suggestions from my more capable handyman friends? In a pinch Ill settle for kibitzing from my less capable friends.
