Okay, a lot of people who read my newsfeed either work with children or have children, so I can take some knowledge for granted - I hope. In any case, here I was talking with a woman who was saying that you can teach children ANYTHING and be believed, and that this was the STRENGTH of religion. I told her that if you taught children their numbers and gave them manipulatives (blocks, counting beads, a simple old-fashioned abacus), you could teach children as many times as you wanted that 2+2=5, but that the more intelligent and curious children in the class would soon question you and show that it could not be true. Because, seriously, I do believe that all that is needed for people to realize science is true and religion is false is for them to be raised with reason, logic, and exposure to facts. Eventually the tide will turn against the fairy tales of our childhood as a species. This is happening, slowly, in most of the First World, especially in Europe. And its about bloody time!
