Okay, admittedly Sun Kil Moon can be a bit of an acquired taste, but Mark Kozelek surely is Americas pre-eminent balladeer, a mystical voice transcribing the contemporary USA wasteland of emotional desolation...yeah, cheery, I know! Heres a new one by me, recorded backstage a while back for the Jimmy Fallon show, called Track Number 8. Even after having seen him perform a the couple times live now - once at Lees, then a couple years back down in Syracuse - its taken me a while to sort out maybe where this guys coming from (and your guess is as good as mine) but suffice to say that Im looking forward to seeing him a third time here in TO later in September, down at The Opera House on the lower west side, a couple blocks from Torontos Jam Factory.. perfect music for early autumn imhe, wistful, profound and forlorn.. https://youtube/watch?v=GdehWSPV_nM
