Okay artist friends, I know that some of you are upset about that Spider-Woman cover and some of you arent, and some of you are upset that others are upset, and Ive been posting freakin essays on some of your posts. But for real, are any of you really surprised? Do you look at that cover and not think well, this might not be cool with some of the women I know? I think some of you are defending that artwork because it seems mean to pick on the artist or because you would feel terrible to have that kind of backlash to something you did. Theres a simple solution, which should be basic to all illustrators: know your audience and genre. Do work that solves the issues of your client rather than creating problems. Its your job!
