Okay folks, Im with LEVAR BURTON on many points here. This whole remake/reboot thing is getting completely out of hand. The HISTORY CHANNEL wanting to do a remake of ROOTS???? Come on, people. The original mini-series was fine enough, thank you. As for Quentin Tarantinos statement that Roots was unauthentic in its storytelling....really??? Granted, portions of Alex Haleys book were indeed plagiarized from Harold Courlander’s The African (and Mr. Haley paid dearly for that in court) but I dont think the scene where John Amos as the older Kunta Kinte/Toby having his foot chopped off as punishment for trying to escape was based on fantasy. Bottom line, some things are best left well enough alone and Quentin needs to chill out.
