Okay, so, Im going to go ahead and get a little bit shameless for - TopicsExpress

Okay, so, Im going to go ahead and get a little bit shameless for a second, and ask for some help. As some of you may know, my main activity aside from searching for a job at the moment has been putting as much work as possible into the little computer game Ive been plugging away at on and off for ages. One of the difficulties Ive had with this is acquiring art that I can use legally in a game that I may wish to sell at some point. Yes, theres free art out there, but using a bunch of different art from a bunch of different sources comes with two main difficulties. 1) When different pieces of art are taken from different places and created by different people, it often means that styles vary widely, making it difficult to maintain any sort of aesthetic integrity within the game. While Im not super picky (I cant afford to be), I do think its important that it isnt blatantly obvious that different things were drawn by different people with extremely different styles. 2) Downloading from lots of different sources also means that the legal part of using all of this art can get complicated. I need thousands of different assets to create even the small game Im aiming for, and if each of those thousands of assets was made by a different person, many of them are going to have different licenses attached to them, meaning the creators each have different conditions, often very specific, placed on what youre legally allowed to do with their work, and I have to keep track of all of them. Theres a gigantic set of art assets for sale on Steam, intended for use by independent game creators. There are thousands of them, and theyre modular, so they come in pieces that can be used to assemble all sorts of things. You can build a sword piece by piece, a sky backdrop cloud by cloud, or assemble anything from a tank, to a jungle scene, to a space ship, to a map of a fairytale kingdom one gun, vine, thruster, or mountain at a time. Its also loaded with pieces intended for creating artistically consistent icons, interface elements, and all sorts of other stuff. Plus, theyre constantly adding thousands of new things to it, and purchasing it means you get access to everything they create, going into the future. Finally, since its on Steam, I never have to worry that the core assets will be lost. Itll all be right there, ready to be re-downloaded from the cloud, if I ever need to do so. Ive done some research on it, read the reviews (both positive and negative), and Im confident this is something I could put to very good use, that would save me a huge amount of time, energy, and potentially even money. So, heres what Im asking: The package costs around 180 dollars and, if it wasnt obvious at this point, Im appealing to anyone whod be willing to help me purchase it. If 180 bucks seems like a lot, please keep in mind that paying an artist to custom create even a small number of assets like these would cost many times that amount. I can put up some of the money, obviously. For the rest, Im willing to do... whatever. Even taking job searches into consideration, I have or can make a good bit of free time right now, and this is very important to me. If anyone would be willing to simply contribute, thats awesome. If theres something youd like me to do in exchange for a contribution, as long as its within me abilities, Im sure we can work something out. I know times are tight for everyone and if no one can justify helping out, Ill understand, but I figured it cant hurt to ask. Having access to such an enormous variety of art that I can do as I please with, all under the same license, would be immensely valuable. Theres no need to respond publicly if youd rather not. Feel free to get up with me via private message here, or email (lunarhound@gmail). Here are a handful of videos showing the sort of things you can make with these assets: https://youtube/watch?v=_BfWNWHDtxE https://youtube/watch?v=tl0t30K2zB8 https://youtube/watch?v=EJTXqvPGLLo
