Okay, so everyone can see this. There is massive difference between standing up for people in a way that is both valuable and necessary, and giving yourself permission to act any way you want. There is a difference between not letting oppression go unchecked and expecting me to make my personal space, which you ALL are privileged to be privy to, open to any and all style of interaction. If you think that makes me soft on injustice, you need to assess your priorities. You need to realize you are asking me to always, unquestioningly, cede my boundaries to you because you have a point to make. If you have a point, make it. If I did wrong, tell me. But do not take that as unlimited license to take me to task for expecting people to behave in a way that acknowledges this as MY space and not a public free-for-all. Its quite possible to both have a voice and respect my boundaries. If I tell you I need my space to have certain emotional limitations in place because I only have spoons for so much, and I want things to be resolved as peacefully as practical rather than with full-on battle, then I expect better than to get side-eyed. Its deeply ableist to expect everyone to be at the exact same level of emotional resource, especially when stuff happening on my wall has a bigger toll on me than it has on any of you.
