Okay, so in yesterdays WC matches, we saw some outstanding defense by the U.S., namely Gonzalez, against the Germans. Howard was a beast at the net. He hustled to do his best to block a double shot, but could only stop one of them. Still a great effort. 12 minutes into the game we got some nice footwork by the USA which kept the Germans guessing. The rain definitely wasnt on anyones side. The USMNT has been struggling to keep possession of the ball since the start of this WC, so the rain cant be used as an excuse here. This is their biggest problem, they really need to get it together. In fact in this match, they had a cringing 37% possession. They looked lost out there at times. It was uplifting hearing USA USA throughout the stadium during play. While every trip the US made was called by the ref, most of which just looked like they were just going for the ball, almost every trip made by the Germans went ignored. 73 minutes into the game Jermaine Jones collided with fellow team mate Alejandro Bedoya (sub) causing them both to go down, leaving Jones with a bloody nose. This meant Jones would leave the field which wasnt what the team needed because Jones > Bedoya. Pay attention guys! I could have gone to sleep during the last 10 minutes of this match. Meanwhile Ghana scored on themselves (Boye), giving the first point to Portugal. They managed to tie it up giving them hope, but Portugal beat them in the end 2-1. Hours before this match even began, Ghanas midfielders Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng were suspended for allegedly punching a Ghana Football Association official (Muntari) and verbally abusing the coach (Boateng). What the hell is happening to your team Octavia Brundon? They mad? Yellow cards were being issued left and right in the Algeria/Russia match. 5 in total. They tied 1-1. Belgium beat Korea Republic 1-0. This is Belgiums first World Cup appearance since 2002. Welcome back guys. What this means for the USA: Well, thanks to Christiano Ronaldo *cough cough* making that second goal for Portugal yesterday, the USA ADVANCES!!!! Thanks for the assist chum! Youre not so bad after all! LOL
