Okay, so … newsflash … Apparently, I think like a lady when it comes to my personal life. Who’da thunk? Seriously, in my businesses I’m all that … business. As a business woman, it’s about facts, figures, clear, concise, done. Now step into my personal world and this woman thinks like a lady. That’s not such a bad thing because it is who I am; it’s what I do. It is a huge part of what makes me me. And yet, it is also a huge part of why some things in my life seem to show repeat outcomes. Whether it is with a girlfriend or a guy, or a guy friend I tend to think too much like a lady. After a long conversation last night with one of the best guys I know, I woke up with clarity as if someone flipped a switch. His input was spot-on, and helped me to see that although I am not doing anything particularly wrong, I have a tendency to be the one who always makes things right. My focus is mostly on the other person’s feelings; even when it is at my expense … you see, a lady doesn’t like to see anyone hurting. And she certainly doesn’t want to be the cause of anyone’s pain, right? Well, in business I am firm without hurting anyone, so what the heck is up with the other side of this coin? Nothing now … thanks to my amazing friend whose opinion is truly invaluable. He opened my eyes to something that should have been so obvious, but was not because my focus was on being nice instead of being smart. So, I’ve revised my recipe to combine a little of both. ;-D I am completely equipped to be firm yet kind about a few things that have been going on in my world. Men really do think differently than ladies. What a gift to get such loving, honest input from a completely different perspective. It is better than any amount of therapy in the world.
