Okay, so this is the fad now, and Ive been handed the number 17 by my wife. Here are seventeen random facts you may or may not know about me: 1. I am the son of a Lutheran Pastor and briefly entertained the idea of going into the ministry in my early twenties. 2. I was a poker dealer at a California casino for two years. 3. I once won about $25,000 in a poker tournament. Um, I have none of that left. 4. When I was a kid, I would record my own pretend radio shows on volumes upon volumes of cassette tapes. 5. Around the same time, I had pretend church services in my room that my family graciously attended. My hand-written bulletins included many original hymns, including the touching Who Died In The Bathroom? 6. I was once lead singer of an alternative rock band called Theory X. 7. In 2000, I wrote and recorded an album of original rock songs. 8. Around that time, I played bass in a bluesy/folky band called Crown City Trio, with Dalton Perry on harmonica. 9. While writing this post, I realized I had written only 8 facts, balked, and exclaimed, Holy cow, seventeen?!! 10. My wife Tiffanie and I were high school sweethearts, and we met on Halloween night over 20 years ago. 11. Tiffanies father once threw me out of their house when I was 17. 12. Tiffanies father performed our wedding ceremony and kindly reminded us of that fact. 13. I was married about a month after my father died. My new father-in-law sat me down and told me that, if I liked, I could call him Dad. Ditto for Shirley Shirley Cook Hubler, whom I call Mom. 14. I once sat next to Billy Crystal courtside at Clippers game. I will be hurt if that night doesnt make his Random Facts list. 15. In my spare time, I love to read books about spacetime, quantum mechanics, and cosmology. My wife humors me when I excitedly tell her about stuff that blows my mind. 16. I am a Christian. I believe in divine creation AND the Big Bang. 17. I love love love big snowstorms.
