Okay, thanks to the insistence of certain people on Facebook, its time for my rant about holidays. The end of the year has many holiday celebrations in it. Some are religious, some are cultural, some are a mixture. Regardless of what type of holiday it is, NONE is the Real Reason for the Season any more than any other. If you want to wish me a happy or merry whatever holiday you celebrate, Im great with that. It indicates to me youre thinking of me. I wont be offended if I dont celebrate that particular holiday. Personally I tend to say Happy Holidays because it does cover the possibilities, but again, if someone replies with Happy/Merry I wont be offended. However, if you insist on claiming that your particular holiday is the only Real holiday being celebrated and we all must bow to your whims, guess what? Not only will I reply with Happy Holidays!, I will post it on your Facebook wall, I will send you messages with various other holiday greetings, I will inundate you with any other holiday just to show you not everyone believes as you do. Not only will I not care about offending you with it, I will be happy to offend you because it might cause you to open your mind a little and recognize there are other beliefs that are no less valid than yours. Additionally, if you insist that yours is the only Real holiday I will criticize you for celebrating any other form or holiday during the season. Now, having said this, I think its entirely too early to be fighting over December holidays when we havent even gotten to the Vernal Equinox yet. Can we give it a bit of time for you to consider my words so that when December does arrive we wont have to deal with it then? We can just all go on our merry ways and celebrate? Thanks.
