Okay, the story last night about the off-duty trooper who shot the man who came to his house got A LOT more complicated and very, very sad. Kristopher Barkus lived down the street from the trooper. He was 25 and apparently came home from college, couldnt find a job and went into a deep depression. His parents say Kristopher started saying things like Id be better off in jail...then I wouldnt be a burden on the family. The parents say Kristopher went to the troopers house before and asked the trooper to take him to jail. The trooper, obviously, refused and then last night, Kristopher went back to the house and allegedly pointed a handgun at the trooper. The trooper shot him and Kristopher died at the hospital.
