Okay, this might be a little controversial in the Network Marketing world, but here goes... I think we all agree that your Why... the REASON you are involved in Network Marketing is very very important. If your reasons are strong enough, youll overcome virtually any obstacle. However, when it comes to having the Why conversation with brand new people joining the Network Marketing profession, I believe some people push way way WAY too hard in the beginning. Its kind of like asking a 17 year old what they are going to do with the rest of their lives. Sure, a few of them will have an answer, but the rest of them really hate that question because they have no idea. If the typical new distributor was honest, their real Why is to get their initial investment back, sell a few products, sign up a few people and see what happens from there. After all, most of them are only joining because they can think of some others that will probably join too (see Lottery Ticket). Dont get me wrong, I believe deeply that a persons reasons for being involved in Network Marketing are extremely important. Freedom, choices, making a difference, giving more to charity, taking care of family, contribution, legacy, fulfillment, etc. are all wildly important and, over time, youll be able to talk about those issues and help a person to dream again. Its just that the BRAND new distributor will need a little time before they can see all those things. And pushing too hard at the beginning might cause them to pull back.
