Old toys and clothes pegs I gazed up at mother I recall that I begged For some new toys Because I used clothes pegs So to calm my frustration All I had to do Was use my imagination Clothes pegs were something new Clothes pegs gave me joy Becoming all kinds of things Aeroplanes, soldiers Captains and kings Angels and demons Just a child so young But with these clothes pegs I had so much fun I did have old toys I was shy softly spoken But all my old toys Were tattered and broken Clothes pegs were my robots Wooden I know In my thoughts they were part Of my own crazy show Old toys are gone Clothes pegs became Coloured hard plastic Not quite the same As for me I am older Life changed time and again I recall wooden clothes pegs My childhood toys back then Andy J Daniels 12/8/13 First British Serial Rights 2013
