Omar , Mehbooba rebukes BJP minister on Article 370 claim Srinagar, May 27:Chief Minister Omar Abdullahon Tuesday said the Article 370 is the ‘only constitutional link’ between Jammu and Kashmir and rest of India and talking about its revocation is not only ‘ill informed’ but ‘irresponsible’. The Narendra Modi government is open to debate on Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir, minister of state in Prime Ministers Office Jitendra Singh said on Tuesday while making it clear that efforts would be made through this exercise to convince the unconvinced. In a series if tweets, Omar said: “So the new MOS PMO says process/discussions to revoke Art 370 have started. Wow, that was a quick beginning. Not sure who is talking.” While objecting to his remarks strongly, Omar said: “Mark my words & save this tweet - long after Modi Govt is a distant memory either J&K wont be part of India or Art 370 will still exist.” 57-year-old Singh, according to media reports, said Article 370 was more of a psychological barrier than a physical one and added that the Modi-led government was open to debate with all stakeholders, including youths, pros and cons of retaining or withdrawing the Article. Meanwhile Rejecting the statement made by Dr Jitendra Singh, PDP party president Mehbooba Mufti said Singh should realize that his newly acquired position as a junior minister comes with some responsibilities and the Prime Minister should intervene to discipline him. The PMO must clarify the statement to reassure the people of J&K that no mischief is on its way, she said. Mehbooba said the irresponsible utterances on Art 370 should stop immediately as these can have serious repercussions in J&K besides having the potential of spoiling the atmosphere of inclusiveness and peace that the inauguration of the new government at the center apparently aimed at achieving. She said on the one hand the Prime Minister spoke of inclusiveness and on the other a minister in his own office seeks to disrupt the effort at reconciliation by speaking out of turn on an issue that sends out highly negative signals to countrys only Muslim majority state.
