On 14th and 15th, Doug fished briefly at Lake Naverone, just outside Garden Castle in the Maloti-Drakenberg Park. The weather was slightly windy as a cold front approached, turning into heave rain, hail and show on the high berg. A very big fish was seen moving in the shallow reeded section of the dam but fishing off the boat with no anchor and intermittent wind proved to challenging to approach it. Two fish were lost in the dam on an olive bead headed wooly Bugger and a small brown landed on a variation of a white death. The water depth of the river was still very low, with water temp at about 12deg, but one fish was seen feeding and another moving around one of the pools. There were a number of takes by very small trout on elk hair caddis (white var) at the head of pools and runs, but none were hooked.
