On 27th November, Slums at Versova beach were levelled off without any prior notice, except a much hyped media outrage early morning 6:30AM of the same day. The unprepared hutments are now homeless with all their means of livelihood scattered along the beach or taken over by the BMC. This demolition was carried out under the recently elected BJP MLA Ameet Satams personal supervision. It was an extension to the Clean India initiative that has been in the wind with massive synchronous effect throughout the country. Was it right for the government to go ahead with it, keeping in mind the collateral damage the ordeal would cause? Operation Versova: A Cry for a Living tells you the stories of the victims, who are now homeless, broke and devastated by the charade that was executed in benefit to public interest, where public is that sect of the mob that reads the headline Operation Versova and is proud about their governments step towards development, which in fact is a stunt at early reign by the recently elected MLA, as the information serves.
