On 6 September 2014 at 1646, Sgt Edward Morristell responded to SR 6 in the area of the Fireplace Restaurant for a 2 car motor vehicle collision with injuries. Upon arrival, it was determined that there was 4 injured parties, 2 or which were serious. EMS and Fire personnel were requested to expedite to the scene. 2 Life Flight helicopters were dispatched and were in flight, when they had to cancel due to a fast moving storm in the area. 4 patients were eventually transported to local hospitals. The investigation revealed that a 2011 GMC Acadia, operated by Patricia Williams of Meshoppen, pulled out of the Fireplace Restaurant parking lot and pulled directly into the path of a 1993 Honda Accord, operated by Debbie Ladner of Tunkhannock. The Honda operated by Ladner had no time to react to avoid the collision. Sgt. Morristell cited Williams for her involvement in the collision. The Tunkhannock Township Police would like to thank Tunkhannock Ambulance and Rescue, Triton Fire, Meshoppen Ambulance and Rescue, Mehoopany Ambulance, CLS, Tunkhannock Borough Police and Meshoppen Police for their excellent handling and assistance in this collision.
