On Friday, a home caught fire in Washington, about 50 miles south - TopicsExpress

On Friday, a home caught fire in Washington, about 50 miles south of Seattle. And when firefighters showed up, they got inside immediately to see if anyone was trapped. Luckily no one was home. But they did find five HAMSTERS in the living room. They were barely alive, and several of them were babies. Fortunately the firefighters had recently worked with a group of veterinarians, and had a booklet on hand called the Pet Emergency Pocket Guide. So they went to work on the hamsters. They knew they were probably suffering from smoke inhalation, and realized the ends of some breathing tubes they had basically looked like tiny, hamster-sized OXYGEN MASKS. They started giving them all oxygen . . . and four of the five hamsters SURVIVED. Now a photo of one of them with a tiny oxygen mask on is all over the Internet. Afterward, one of the firemen explained that most of the people they come in contact with are having a bad day. So they always do whatever they can to help, even if its something relatively small like saving someones hamsters.
