On July 13, 2014 at approximately 3:40 p.m., a husband and wife were returning from Hutches Pools, in Sabino Canyon when the husband started having chest pains. The wife ran down the trail to use her cell phone and call 9-1-1. After deputies did not locate the subjects at the cell phone coordinates, the Search and Rescue Unit was started along with the Sheriff’s Department helicopter. The helicopter located the couple a short time later. A rescue deputy was lowered to the ground and the patient was hoisted out via the Screamer Suit. The patient was flown to the Southern Arizona Rescue Association (SARA) house where an ambulance was waiting. The patient was then transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
