On July 30 I have jury duty. In honor of Trayvon I am going to make sure that, especially if the defendant is of a race other than my own, I will assume innocence. All defendants deserve the same protections under the law that Zimmerman received, but all too often I fear black defendants do not receive the constitutionally mandated presumption of innocence. Perhaps a "jury of your peers" could be interpreted to mean that black defendants receive all black juries?
