On May 15th, Frankie went for his follow up with both his surgeon and oncologist at Sloan. Pathology showed that there were four areas of cancer in the area of the original diagnosis. Thankfully, by being proactive and choosing surgery, the two they knew of and the two that werent yet visible on the scans were successfully removed! As far as his amazing doctors can tell, it has not spread to any other local area or beyond. Meaning that while by definition, remission wont happen for five years, we can at least say for now, that he is free of disease for the first time in 3 and 1/2 years! The doctors confidently discontinued his medication until his next scan in August, at which point, if nothing is seen, he can stay off of the poison and continue life normally with no treatment. Then, every three months hell be re-tested, and God willing, will be clear! He is the bravest man I know. Each day he is forced to look in the mirror and see someone he wishes he could change. He not only fears for himself, but for his family. He not only worries for himself but for us. I know we will never be the same people we were before this, but for those of you going threw this struggle, please know, you will find your way. Trust in the prayers and thoughts of others, it is stronger than you can imagine. We could never make it through without all of you! With that being said, we are very excited to note that another $22,000 will be donated to Kick Kidney Cancer this year! Thank you, so very, very much.
