On May 5th, 2014, SCOTUS ruled to allow the practice of sectarian prayer before government meetings to continue. Evangelical christians were thrilled! And Tony Perkins of Family Research Council crowed: The court has rejected the idea that as citizens we must check our faith at the entrance to the public square. NOW, since The SCOTUS ruling also stresses the importance of inclusion, stating that even atheists should be permitted to lead a prayer. Well well, here is what happened when christians had to sit through an invocation by a Agnostic Pagan Pantheist by the name of David Suhor . Maybe, just maybe christians will understand what it is like to sit through and listen to their prayers when you do not share the same beliefs, are of another religious belief, or are a person who has no religious beliefs at all. Ive had to sit through many a long, boring, drawn out prayer (christian) before many public, civic and local goverment events here in this area where I live. I cant stand it ! I applaud David Suhor ! It demonstrates the utter ridiculousness of such displays before goverment functions/events. When the Supreme Court made that ruling, they had no idea what a Pandoras Box they were opening. But millions of US did! And we said: Yeah, just you wait; one day it will be interesting to watch when an atheist, or someone of another religion gets up to say a prayer or invocation . And here it is.
