On November 15th, 2014, Winnipeggers came out to the Legislative Building to protest Canadas involvement in the colonization of other countries through war under the veil of security. The event was titled the Rally for Peace and Self Determination in Iraq and Syria and was one of many anti-war protests in Winnipeg over the last year. Many individuals stepped up and spoke out against the war, gave other ideas some dialogue and shared groups that propose great alternatives to war. While it was incredibly cold outside with the wind howling, many people still showed up on the steps of the Legislative Building to show their passion for the cause of peace. We spoke of the U.S.s involvement in the middle east going back to the Iranian coup to overthrow Irans democratically elected leader, to the propping up of Saddam Hussein in Iraq and his Baathist party. Al Qaeda being armed by the CIA and people such as Zbigniew Brzezinski against the Soviets, the Taliban meeting with Ronald Reagan at the White House, the arming of the Iraqis against the Iranians, the arming of the Muslim Brotherhood and finally the arming of ISIS last year to go against Assad which obviously backfired. But did it backfire? Or was this the plan all along? Just another puzzle piece closer to the full New World Order thats been gradually destroying this planet for the last 100 years? Many interesting and smart people spoke during the rally and while we didnt make a huge impact, we all came together and discussed important issues which is extremely important by itself. A BIG thanks to Food Not Bombs for making some great soup and bringing various vegetables to the protest which kept many activists warm. Theyre a great group and we encourage everyone to check them out!
