On Saturday I had the honor of presenting the Bronze Star to the family of Corporal Victor Martinelli for his valiant service during World War II. He served in the 338th U.S. Army infantry regiment in WWII as a medical technician from 1942-1945 in Italy. Mr. Martinelli’s grandson, Tommy O’Neil, contacted my office in November after discovering a letter from his grandfather’s commanding officer recommending that he be awarded the Bronze Star. Particularly during Memorial Day weekend, this event was a reminder of the service and sacrifice of our nation’s military members and their families.
