On Saturday, Spring Hill was called to assist in removing 21 - TopicsExpress

On Saturday, Spring Hill was called to assist in removing 21 horses from a property in Caledonia County. With a few minutes’ notice, five members of our response team mobilized to assist in this effort. We spent a long, cold day and night working with, handling, and assessing the horses, and documenting their conditions. Over the last few years, we have made a considerable effort to train, manage, and develop our response teams, who have varied and considerable expertise. We also have worked collaboratively with other rescue groups in VT, and together we have made a considerable effort to organize, share expertise, train and pool our resources. We have trained for these responses together, and we’re proud of the other rescues groups and our own team for responding professionally and on short notice. This effort was lead by the Elizabeth Brown Humane Society and the Caledonia County Sheriff’s Office. All of the horses were placed through Elizabeth Brown Humane Society, of St. Johnsbury, VT, and with local fosters, adopters, and with other rescue groups. And yes, one of our team members has a new family member as of Saturday night :)
