On Sept 11 2001 I was to fly out from Sea/Tac airport Washington State, home to Appleton after visiting family. We got a call early in the am at the Hotel from my frantic Aunt stating we were under attack. For some reason my mind flash to images of alien ships swarming the cities. As we turned on the TV the second plane hit the towers….several minutes later it fell. We all know the rest of the story. On Sept 16th 2001 I, my husband and my 2 yr old daughter arrived 4 hrs prior to departure to get on the plane to go home. As you know strict rules were enforced. Lines were long, nerves were frayed. A lady cried as her grandmothers cookoo clock was stripped of its dangling whatcha ma-call-it’s. They compared as a num chuck and not able to go on the plane or suitcase. People of color and especially Indian origin fidgeted under others eyes of concern. “If something should happen at least we are together.” For a year or more I would get up and grab the remote to turn on the TV before even turning on a light in the am. Little hiccup in my life compared to what others went through are still. Please take a moment to think of those who have lost loved ones, our heroes who saved people, searches who combed the rubble, people who gave comfort, shelter and prayers. And those who survived.
