He goes blind after suffering glaucoma at age 7; Ben E. King, of the Drifters and “Stand by Me” fame, is born in Henderson, N.C. in 1938; Steve Boone of The Lovin Spoonful born in 1943; Neal Smith-drummer for Alice Cooper born in 1947; Bruce Springsteen born in 1949; and Songwriter Martin Page was born in Southampton, England in 1958.
