On September 3, 2014, members of the Berks County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force, Reading Police Department, PA State Police and Sheriff’s Department conducted an early morning drug round-up of twenty-nine (29) defendants from the City of Reading. All twenty-nine defendants were wanted for various violations of the Controlled Substance Act of Pennsylvania, specifically delivery of controlled substances, which included cocaine, heroin and marijuana. This year-long investigation began with complaints from concerned citizens regarding drug activity in their neighborhoods. During the investigation, undercover detectives purchased amounts of controlled substances with values ranging from $20 to $300 dollars. Additionally, during the round-up, detectives observed an individual (later identified as Eric Jefferson) making a suspected drug transaction with an unidentified individual in the 1400 block of Perkiomen Avenue. Jefferson was taken into custody. Subsequently, Jefferson was searched and found in his possession was 196 packets of suspected heroin, 25 grams of bulk heroin, packaging material, and approximately $2000 in U.S. Currency, believed to be the proceeds of previous drug transactions. Arrest warrants were issued for the following individuals. The names highlighted in red were arrested and taken into custody. They are currently in Central Processing awaiting video arraignment.
