On Sunday, August 4th, 2013, 2:30 pm, Pax Christi Metro New York, a regional chapter of the international Catholic peace movement, will commemorate the 68th anniversary of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki with a memorial prayer, discussion, and silent procession led by Maryknoll Sisters Jean Fallon and Kathleen Reiley. Having spent years of service in Japan, the focus of their presentation will be From Hiroshima to Fukushima-The Nuclear Threat Continues. At Casserly Hall below St. Joseph’s Greenwich Village Church on Washington Place just off Sixth Avenue, one block north of West 4thStreet. It will be followed by questions and answers. The subsequent silent procession will take us to Fr. Demo Square where there will be a brief solemn vigil. The memorial will end at 4:30 PM at the Square. Because of the prayerful nature of the procession, we ask participants not to bring any signs or banners. There will be an opportunity for a free-will offering. All are welcome.
