On #ThrowbackThursday (#TBT), we look back at culture-past, from a decade ago. The clip below is from 2005: If it seems the body count on prime-time TV has skyrocketed, thats because it has. The immense popularity of CBS CSI franchise has spawned a host of copycat investigative and police procedurals that prominently feature dead bodies—and lots of them. During the last week of September, shows on the six broadcast networks depicted 63 dead bodies, a massive increase from the 27 corpses shown during the same week in 2004. Whitney Vanderwerff, the former head of the National Alliance for Non-Violent Programming, says of the trend, The most difficult issue here is desensitization.
