On Thursday, January 23 at 7:15 pm, the festival will screen an absolute classic. Come to the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts to see Sophies Choice. Sophie is the survivor of Nazi concentration camps, who has found a reason to live in Nathan, a sparkling if unsteady American Jew obsessed with the Holocaust. They befriend Stingo, the movies narrator, a young American writer new to New York City. But the happiness of Sophie and Nathan is endangered by her ghosts and his obsessions. Before the film (5:45 pm), well have a meet and greet with Mal Vincent, the entertainment writer for The Virginian-Pilot / pilotonline. Mal will also speak after the movie.
