On Thursday June 26 Liz Waynick and I played 5 rounds of golf (90 holes) in Scottsdale, Arizona to raise money for Promise Packs for children in Zambia. This Golf Marathon started at 7:00 a.m. at Pinnacle Peak Country Club and finished in the afternoon at Scottsdale National Golf Club. It was 108 here yesterday, but we managed to finish without heat stroke or dehydration! Through our Golf Marathon we raised enough money to fund 600 Promise Packs which we will deliver to children in Africa this December. I know all the children who receive a Promise Pack will be very excited and very thankful for this wonderful gift. Promise Packs are backpacks filled with school supplies and hygiene items for children in Africa. The Promise Packs cost $22 each. We will deliver the backpacks to the Siantete School (a school we have supported by paying for the construction of classrooms and teacher housing) and several other schools in Zambia. The Promise Packs will be shipped to Zambia and our December group of travelers, including LPGA golfers, will distribute them to the children. We will continue to raise funds for additional Promise Packs since our goal is to raise enough funds to deliver 1,950 Promise Packs to children in Zambia this December. If you would like to help us you may donate through our website GolfForeAfrica.org. You may also write a check to Golf Fore Africa, write Promise Packs on the memo line and mail it to Golf Fore Africa 32531 N Scottsdale Rd, Suite 105, Box 101 Scottsdale, AZ 85266.
